Pakistan Election 2024: After winning from a seat in Lahore in the recently concluded general elections in Pakistan, an independent candidate supported by Imran Khan switched sides and joined Nawaz Sharif’s party.

Imran Khan Party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) supported candidate Wasim Qadir has won the NA-121 constituency of Lahore.

What did Wasim Qadir say on joining PML-N?

In a video shared by PML-N through its official X handle, Wasim Qadir is seen standing with party leader Maryam Nawaz and others. In this he is seen saying, “I have come back to my home.”

According to the report of Geo News, earlier Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf had announced in a post that Qadir is a PTI supported candidate. The post was removed a few minutes later and a new post was made referring to him as an independent candidate. Qadir has defeated Sheikh Rohail Asghar of PML-N.

‘The remaining independent candidates are in touch with us’

Meanwhile, PTI leader Barrister Gauhar Khan said that the leaders who switched allegiance in the past were completely rejected by the public in the February 8 elections. He said that the party is looking into the matter of PTI-backed independent Wasim Qadir joining PML-N. He also said, “The remaining independent candidates are in touch with us and will remain with us.”

Who got how many seats in Pakistan?
